AutoHotkey Discord

The Discord is a Discord server used by the AutoHotkey community.

The current staff responsible for running the community is runie, Cap'n Odin, Sjc1000, Cloaker, GeekDude, Micha, and elModo7. Previous staff members include Devise, nnnik and Waetherman.

The server was created by tomoe_uehara on the 17th of November 2015. The server saw very little activity for the first two years of its existence, including a stretch of time of over a year where only 11 messages were sent.

On the 22nd of January 2017, runie joined the server. Following almost three more months of little activity, runie was made an administrator. As administrator he started making changes such as creating a basic set of rules and adding roles for server and forum staff. In addition an invite to the server was added to the forums, causing a trickle of members joining.

Driven by the need to quickly pull up pieces of AutoHotkey documentation, runie and GeekDude started working on a Discord bot. On the 23rd of June 2017, a crude version of the bot was live including documentation search and other simplistic commands.

Throughout 2017, the server owner tomoe_uehara started being less and less active on the server, and at one point she had been inactive for nearly five months. After several attempts at making contact, runie (the only other administrator at that time) started to worry about the future of the server if the owner had seemingly abandoned it. On the 15th of December 2017, runie started a process with Discord to get the ownership of the server changed, and almost two weeks later on the 28th the ownership was transferred to him.
